About PKS and Our Corporate Goal

Companies invest huge amounts of money in the development of custom applications to set themselves apart from their competitors and optimally support their own specific business processes. Yet when it comes to functionality and technology, these custom apps can grow old very quickly and lose their value. In a worst-case scenario, software aging can have a tremendous impact on a company's competitiveness when the necessary changes can no longer be sensibly implemented.

Functional aging can be circumvented or at least significantly decelerated through maintenance. Most of the time though, technical aging initially goes unnoticed until unreasonably high maintenance costs arise later on in the lifecycle, or a dramatic decline in the development's agility or even a slow death of the development platform becomes evident. The application then has to be upscaled to a more modern technological platform or else it will become worthless for the company.

Because there's hardly a company around that can afford to continually rewrite all of its custom software to keep it up to date and replacement with standard software is not usually a solution, there is a tremendous demand for technical application modernization and migration to modern technical standards.

PKS recognized this need at a very early stage in the game, specializing itself in precisely this area. This is how we got our byname "the transition experts." PKS is dedicated to creating profitable, secure processes and tools for technical modernization. We achieve this by using rule-based tools and middleware that allow an extremely high degree of automation and, in such, previously unattainable quality. Both the processes and tools alike are continually improved thanks to the experience we gain in a wide variety of customer projects.

There's one simple formula to express what we do best: Our customers are successful thanks to our evolutionary improvement of existing, stable and tested custom software. And the evolution process itself is continually refined and improved. To put it simply:

Success = Stability x Evolution ²·º
