PKS is founded by Karlheinz Peter, Dr. Richard Schillinger and Martin Knöpfle with the goal of offering state-of-the-art migration technologies.
The company's first projects involve migrating from IBM S/36 to Datapoint for the Ford Bank, downsizing from IBM4381 to AS/400 and Kienzle to UNIX.
|
| 1991 |
PKS gets the bid on the first migration projects from AS/400 to RS6000 from IBM. This was the birth of the migration technology AX/ware® AS/400 to UNIX. |
| 1993 |
PKS decides to develop a standard tool (AX/ware®) for the conversion from AS/400 applications to UNIX. For this purpose, technicians deal very intensively with the assembly and function of OS/400 and UNIX operating systems, attaining an excellent degree of knowledge about language conversion, database transformation and middleware technology. |
| 1996 |
With the support of HP, SUN, Oracle and more than 20 AS/400 ISVs, the tool is intensively further developed. The first product version supports the RS/6000, HP9000 and SUNSolaris platforms. The first UNIX end users go live with the migrated applications. |
| 1997-2003 |
Thanks to the tool's object-oriented design, a Windows NT version of AX/ware® Migration Tools 400 is able to be developed. All together, more than 40 ISVs around the globe generate Windows NT and UNIX versions of their AS/400 apps. More than 15,000 end users (status: 12/31/2003) work on more than 700 productive installations in Windows NT and UNIX. |

Reengineering & migration project with DaimlerChrysler. |
| 2001 |
The new product for the migration of Adabas C applications to relational database systems, SmartCDI®, goes on the market. |
| 2002 |
The AX/ware Server Builder® for batch transformation from System i (AS/400 / iSeries) dialog applications is introduced. |
| 2007 |
PKS has evolved into the world's number one vendor for modernization and migration tools (over 1,300 installations and more than 37,000 end users worldwide) and now has 40 employees on its staff.
New ground is broken: IBM EGL, the all-in-one package solution for System i application modernization.
