Why Choose Universal Client Xi?

The Universal Client Xi Web2.0 (based on the Ajax technology) comes with over 20 standard widgets (input and output fields, links and buttons, date controls, combo boxes, radio buttons, checkboxes, tab controls and much more). You can create your own controls based on existing control elements by adding just a single rule. Styles and attributes like colors, position, size, fonts and much more are available for this purpose and can also be globally set depending on the control type. This makes it easy to create a uniform basic layout for an application.

No in-depth XML knowledge is required for the rule-based XML configuration. A rule can apply to a number of different screens and doesn’t have to be adjusted if the content or position of a field is modified. To manipulate the files, all you need is a standard XML editor like e.g. Eclipse. PKS provides a plugin that makes it easier for the user to enter PKS-specific XML code.

If desired, the Universal Client Xi can also locally cache configuration data and images, which leads to a distinct boost in performance. Compared to similar products, it basically distinguishes itself with its fast processing speed. The Ajax version of PKS’s Universal Client Xi Web2.0 is therefore capable of asynchronous data transfers and restricts itself to reloading only those parts of the current screen that have to be modified.

Thanks to its open architecture, the Universal Client Xi Web2.0 is completely configurable in almost all of its parts. The entire application layout can be changed in just a few steps without having to revert to the source code. Adaptation of the source code to the demands of the client technology is done automatically via the converter so that the efforts needed to modernize the app are kept to a minimum. The configuration is stored centrally and therefore does not have to be saved extra to every workstation.

It’s even possible to tap into the fully documented XML stream between the SB400 display engine and the GUI engine and make it utilizable for your own frontend.

The PKS Universal Client Xi Web2.0 is multi-user and multi-tasking capable, yet requires hardly any system resources at all thanks to its intelligent use of browser technology (keyword: zero distribution). It can be operated on iSeries, AIX, Windows or Linux servers and runs under Windows NT, 2000, XP and Vista. The Java servlet is optimized for Firefox 1.5, IE 5.5 and Mozilla 1.0 and up.

Of course, the PKS Universal Client Xi Web2.0 also supports SSL, 3DES and other encryption mechanisms.

Integrate your EGL applications through a simple handler program. The WebClient and Server Builder technology provide you with all the necessary interfaces.

The Universal Client Xi Web2.0 can also handle Unicode, which makes it possible to give your applications a cutting edge on the global market.
