Product Description:
|
| |
| The Universal Client consists of a well-balanced range of various clients for the web, Windows and green screen, all of which can communicate via standard XML with RPG and Cobol server programs. |

Universal Client Xi Web
(on Ajax technology) |
Universal Client Xi Windows |
Universal Client WIN3 |
Universal Client Text |
| |
All clients have the same server sided interfaces and can therefore be combined in nearly any way. An employee working from her home office can e.g. access the application via Universal Client Xi Web2.0. At the same time, a user working on a lot of data acquisition can use the Universal Client Text, while her colleague at the office can use the Universal Client Xi Windows for his work in Excel and Word. |
| |
All Windows and web clients are easy to program and can be used by RPG and Cobol developers without any additional special technical knowledge. Programming is done in two phases. General rules such as the screen layout, function key view, subfile view etc. can be defined in a configurator. In the second step, additional GUI commands are programmed directly into the DDS source code or an additional GUI description file. Because all GUI add-ons are directly in the source code, program maintenance is quite simple. All clients acquire their information directly from DDS or the programs, thus bypassing the tedious detour via the 5250 protocol. GUI programming is therefore much easier than it is with screen scrapers based on 5250. |

The range of Xi Clients can be easily added onto and supports Windows and web clients with just ONE source code.
The Universal Client Xi Web2.0 is based on the AJAX/JSON technology, allowing you to use asynchronous messaging and keyboard buffering for your application—all on the web.
The AJAX/JSON technology makes it possible to dynamically attach objects in the DOM tree in an unusually efficient, high-performance manner. The data volume to be transmitted between the web server and browser is thus reduced to a minimum.
This gives your application that typical look and feel of Web2.0 apps. Flickered paging is a thing of the past—the web application almost feels like a desktop app.
Based on your needs the existing set of displayable widgets can be extended using the most modern controls with efficient response times.
The Universal Client Xi Web2.0 supports lightweight threads with thread pooling and thus offers web application server compliant thread maintenance. The highly scalable, high-performance framework of Java 1.5 is thus fully utilized.
