Server Builder 400 |
| |
Server Builder 400 transforms your interactive RPG and Cobol applications into real server programs. In doing so, the applications are completely unshackled from the limitations of the 5250 data stream and can communicate with modern clients like the PKS Universal Client via XML. This allows maximum performance operation on the economical System i Standard or Value Edition. |

Product Description |
| |
Server Builder 400 was developed to make existing RPG and Cobol applications server-capable without a great degree of effort. Seamless integration in PDM and WDSC allows the use of the Server Builder without having to change the existing development process or source code. |
| |
Programs are transformed in two steps as usual. First, the DDS with the monitor descriptions is transformed. To do this, Server Builder 400 is equipped with an additional DDS compiler which extracts from the DDS all of the interface information necessary for encapsulating dialog communication in an XML protocol. In the next step, a preprocessor is launched before the RPG or Cobol compilation, which also neatly encapsulates all dialog requests in the program. The compiled objects can then be run either in server mode or interactive mode. In server mode, the programs communicate via XML with the PKS Universal Client and no longer require any interactive performance. In the interactive mode, the programs run as usual with a 5250 terminal emulation. |
| |
AS/400 security and logon remain completely intact. If desired, a unique subsystem can be configured for server programs. |
| |
Included in the package are approximately 20 system commands (WRKxxx), which are also made available in a server-capable version. |
